‘It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Sunbury StreetLife festival (due to take place 15 November 2020).
The decision to cancel was a tough one but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. We have been monitoring the situation closely for some time now, hoping for things to improve. However, with the extension of the State of Emergency and the ongoing restrictions on gatherings in public places, we feel it is in the best interest of our community to cancel.
We are comforted knowing our community will not be put in harm’s way from COVID-19, for that would be a burden we could not bear.
We understand that this will come as an enormous disappointment for all the stall holders, food trucks and small businesses that rely so heavily on the increased business that StreetLife attracts.
We want to do a special shout out to our past and current sponsors. It’s these individuals and companies that have gone above and beyond. They are walking the walk of supporting local businesses in our community.
Right now, the most important thing all of us can do is focus our attention on helping people with the new challenges we all face. Please know that we remain committed to finding other ways to showcase the amazing small businesses in our community.
Take care of yourselves. We’ll continue to do everything we can to help our community stay safe, and look forward to seeing you all again at StreetLife 2021!’
Although all of us here at This is Sunbury are devastated by this turn of events, we know that Sunbury StreetLife will be back bigger and better in 2021 and we can’t wait to celebrate with them!
